About Local & Regional Meetings
GARE Local and Regional Meetings are member-led convening hosted by lead jurisdictions that are selected through an application process. Designed in partnership with GARE, each host city, convenes a 1-2 day, small, in-person gathering of racial equity practitioners from nearby GARE member jurisdictions. The meetings support cross-network connections and shared learning. Practitioners exchange insights, strategies, and best practices for advancing racial equity in government, shaped by local contexts, needs, and priorities.
The purpose of local and regional convenings is to support:
Visioning.
Create space for practitioners to identify “hot spots” and urgent needs, organize, stratege, and support each other.
Collective Impact.
Support regionally-based collaboration, and promote learning and networking among race equity practitioners from GARE members jurisdictions to advance aligned approaches and shared priorities.
Critical connections.
Build meaningful connections among practitioners that strengthen skills, influence, capacity, and accountability in advancing racial equity.
Shared learning and exchange.
Provide opportunities for practitioners to share and showcase tools developed and implemented using the GARE Approach (visualize, normalize, organize, operationalize).
