In 2015, the City of Seattle worked with communities in formerly redlined neighborhoods experiencing displacement pressures to launch the Equitable Development Initiative (EDI) to begin implementing new equitable growth framework in the 2035 Comprehensive Plan. EDI is the nation's first local government anti-displacement program dedicated to investing in communities of color-led real estate projects. To date, over $100 million has been invested in capital projects and community capacity building.
