Ramsey County, Minnesota

Ramsey County is a county located in Minnesota. As of the 2010 census, the population was 508,640, making it the second-most populous county in Minnesota. Ramsey County employs 4,000 people and provides a full range of services to its residents, businesses and visitors including: law enforcement, community corrections, property value assessment and tax collection, elections, emergency management, health and human services, libraries, public works and parks.

The Ramsey County 2017 Strategic Plan outlines a set of strategic priorities aligned with the county’s vision for a vibrant community where all are valued and thrive. The plan provides an overarching set of 13 priorities that will guide the organization’s work on all levels throughout the year ahead to further the county’s four goals to strengthen well-being, cultivate prosperity, enhance opportunity and model accountability. Additionally, Ramsey County incorporated a racial equity component to the biennial budget process to more clearly and deliberately advance racial equity through budget allocation decisions.

Ramsey County has undertaken a countywide assessment of its ability to attract, retain and promote talented employees across race, classes and cultures and its ability to foster a welcoming workforce and workplace where all can contribute and thrive. The assessment will include a prioritized action plan.

Ramsey County participated in the 2017 Minnesota Advancing Racial Equity cohort, Advanced Implementation track. The County is looking forward to beginning their Core Membership and welcomes help in specific strategies to systematically dismantle structures that perpetuate inequities and disparities.
