From September 12-21, 2025, many GARE communities are celebrating Welcoming Week, an annual campaign that invites communities around the globe to host events that deepen understanding and connection among community members. Welcoming Week celebrates the work in communities to become welcoming places for all, including immigrants. Launched in 2012 by Welcoming America and its members, Welcoming Week provides individuals and organizations the opportunity to showcase their values through events and initiatives that foster connections and collaboration between immigrants and non-immigrants, as well as belonging for all.
Welcoming is a core part of who we are and who we've always been. No matter how different our cultures are, we share traditions and stories that started first in community, in finding commonalities, and in supporting each other as people, friends, and neighbors.
This year, Welcoming Week calls us to celebrate differences and spot what we have in common through the Stories We Share. During Welcoming Week, bring your community together around the stories we share: stories that connect us and make us stronger. You can browse the stories or share yours.
