The League of Minnesota Cities and the Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF) are looking to work with a group of smaller cities and counties interested in helping develop and pilot a race equity program. We are holding an initial convening of potentially interested jurisdictions on Tuesday, October 30 at the Redwood Falls Community Center. Please be aware that this is not a workshop or seminar, but a gathering and informational sessions for potential partners ready to commit, over the next year, to developing and piloting an approach to dealing with racial equity issues in smaller cities and counties.
LMC has partnered with the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) over the last few years to support cities working to advance race equity. The training and implementation model central to that partnership is focused on larger communities. LMC and SWIF are looking for cities and counties ready to commit to developing and piloting a model for smaller communities.
The October 30th event is designed to create a space for city and county officials interested in working on race equity to build relationships, share ideas and brainstorm ways that they want to engage in the work.
If your city is interested in participating in a 2019 cohort with GARE, please contact Kevin Frazell at firstname.lastname@example.org or 651-281-1215.
