Twelve institutions in eight cities around the country are already shifting hundreds of millions of our public dollars towards food that’s fair to workers and animals, good for the environment, and great for the local economy – all while increasing access to healthy foods for residents most dependent on public food assistance. In this workshop, learn of more local government strategies for incorporating a racial equity framework into public food procurement. We’ll talk through the nuts and bolts of what it takes to ensure food policy works for people and the planet, hear from Cook County on their successful adoption of the Good Food Purchasing Program, and how we’re building on this momentum with the emerging Good Food Communities campaign.
Speakers will include representatives from:
Chicago Food Policy
Cook County HHS
HEAL Food Alliance
