Please join the GARE Network as we host a special webinar featuring speakers from our five Racial Equity Here cities: Grand Rapids, Philadelphia, Louisville, Austin, and Albuquerque. Our panel will describe how they deployed difference forms of power to advance racial equity and build a more just and inclusive democracy.
To achieve a truly inclusive democracy, government must proactively tackle institutional and structural racism. Racial inequities currently exist across all indicators for success, including education, criminal justice, jobs, housing, public infrastructure and health, regardless of intent, region of the country or size of city. Government has the ability to implement policy change at multiple levels and across multiple sectors to drive larger systemic change. Today we have the opportunity to change how local government works so that racial equity is a priority in both policy and practice.
Racial Equity Here was an initiative of the Government Alliance on Race and Equity and Living Cities that supported five U.S. cities that span the breadth of size, demographics, political context, history with race, and geography. Learn how Grand Rapids, Philadelphia, Louisville, Austin, and Albuquerque are deploying their power to create systemic change to advance racial equity and support a more just and inclusive democracy.
