Submit your proposal to host the 2020 GARE Membership Meeting!

June 24, 2019

The 2019 GARE Membership Meeting will be held in April 2020 at a location to be determined during the next 60 days. The event is anticipated to eclipse the 2019 edition, which featured 475 participants from more than 70 different local, regional, and state jurisdictions. The 2020 host city can expect to receive over 600 visitors from across the country. Venues and hotel options should be able to accommodate a group this size.

We encourage GARE member jurisdictions to submit a proposal to host the 2020 Annual Meeting by sharing important logistical information, potential venues and site visits, and any other details that would make your jurisdiction a great fit for our convening. Proposals are due by July 12, 2019 (Midnight EST)

Hosting the GARE Annual Meeting

Hosting the GARE Annual Meeting is an opportunity to showcase your local work in advancing racial equity, lifting up local knowledge and partnerships, and sharing best practices, community, and culture with our network of over 160 members.

Participation from the host jurisdiction’s staff and leadership team is vital throughout the entire planning process for the annual meeting. In partnership with GARE staff and a nationwide planning team, the local planning committee is responsible for playing a large role in the planning and organization of the meeting, including programming that reflects local history and community, conducting local recruitment and engagement, supporting with site logistics, and more.

Interested in playing a role in the the 2020 Annual Meeting Planning Committee?GARE is looking for volunteers from across the member network to participate in this year’s planning committee. Committee members contribute to programming, strategy, speaker outreach, and member recruitment beginning in August 2019.

Time commitment varies depending on your role in the Committee, but members can expect to spend ~2-3 hours/month from August – December 2019, and slightly more in the months leading to the April convening.

Please send your interest and availability to mmartinez@raceforward.org by July 8th, 2019.
