Watch Chief Equity Officer for Fairfax County, Virginia, Karla Bruce, and  GARE Co-Director, Julie Nelson’s presentation: The Role of Government in Advancing Racial Equity

July 10, 2018

The Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) was pleased to be a part of the Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers 6-part learning series entitled Putting Racism on the Table. Over the course of six months, philanthropic CEOs and trustees explored key elements of racism. Each session featuring a presentation by a nationally-recognized expert, followed by an in-depth, facilitated conversation between the presenter and the audience. In series 5, Chief Equity Officer for Fairfax County, Virginia, Karla Bruce, and  GARE Co-Director, Julie Nelson, spoke about the ways in which bias and racism play out at the individual, institutional, and structural levels.
